2012 Trunk Art Wrap Festival, Bassendean

50 images Created 11 Apr 2012

The annual Trunk Art Wrap Festival invites people to make and display artworks, made entirely of recycled industrial or domestic waste materials, by attaching them to the trunks of selected trees in the town of Bassendean. The artworks remain on public display for the whole of the week long Festival. This year's Festival has seen individual artists, family groups, local school classes and even a pre-school playgroup present a wide variety of artworks.

Nestled by the banks of the Swan River in Perth, Western Australia, the town of Bassendean has a strong tradition of displaying public art: the famous artist and international entertainer Rolf Harris was born and grew up in Bassendean. During his early years as an artist, many of Rolf's works were publicly displayed in Bassendean's businesses and public buildings.
