Dating back to the 7th or 8th century, and despite severe damage from shelling in 1991, Dubrovnik (formerly Ragusa) is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the Adriatic. Situated on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, it is often called the "Pearl of The Adriatic", and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
