9 images Created 4 Jun 2012

Monday June 4, 2012.
A crowd of around 80 people gathered in Guildford to celebrate Western Australia Day. The flag-raising ceremony was followed by morning tea at the historic Mechanics Institute Hall next door to the landmark Guildford Post Office.
The small crowd interupted their celebration to cheer and clap as the newly restored Post Office clock bell chimed the hour.

  • Throughout the whole proceedings we were privileged to have a small flock of Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus banksii naso) quietly feeding above us in the Cape Lilac trees. Known to the Noongar people as 'Karrak', this magnificent bird is officially listed as Vulnerable and is not a common sight in suburbia.
